Just went to try and watch the new Brit Rock film and you now need to buy a £47 annual subscription? Previously I was able to just buy the film and download it, so thought I'd start a discussion on the matter!

Everyone wants to run a subscription service these days.

It is the gift that keeps on taking, when a given percentage of people forget to cancel.

I'd really like to support this project but they seem determined to add as much friction as possible. I just want to buy or rent the film on a platform that works on my TV.

I was about to pay for the year's sub as I haven't seen any of the films, then discovered the website just dies if I try and view it on my TV.

Please just put all the episodes on a platform that works and I'll happily pay for it.

And its not a 'video platform'. At least previously I could buy the videos and watch on vimeo which allowed me to cast to my TV. The britrock one only allows you to watch on the device, no casting or anything to your TV. I didn't realise, and when I asked was told to mirror my phone screen. Asked for cancellation and was told I'd be contacted back after new year, which obviously has not happened.

Hate to say it, but not recommended in its current form

In reply to Dutton: I’ve just paid for the one off Brit Rock VI package after watching the trailers cast to my tv. However I cannot cast the film to the same device (a Roku express). There’s also zero support from the website.

In reply to Dutton:

I've contacted britrock previously asking for tips on watching on a Fire stick or anything to enable me to watch on a big screen. Zero response.  I really want to subscribe but won't until it's easy to use.

What great timing! I just subscribed last night. I'll see if there are any issues when I decide I've seen everything I want to see. Given the content it seems a reasonable sum to pay for a lot of quality viewing.

Seems like another one of those cases whereby they'd probably make more money charging a monthly £9 or whatever than a yearly £47?

There must be plenty like me that'd happily pay £9 a few of times a year to binge a few films but I'd struggle to justify paying a one-off £47.

5 more people of the same mindset would be £162/year that currently pay £0.
