Do you want to make the step from UK rock to Alpine summits? The following Summer Alpine Courses are designed to give you the skills:
Alpine Introduction - Arolla (Switzerland) or Chamonix (France)
Learn the fundamental skills of Alpine climbing with qualified IFMGA Mountain Guides. You'll cover everything from route choice/assessing the conditions, crampon and ice axe technique, ropework and crevasse rescue. Arolla is a great out-of-the-way venue with a variety of peaks on which to put these skills into practice. On the Chamonix course we cross over to Italy and climb Gran Paradiso (4061m) at the end of the week.
Saas 4000ers
If you have Scottish Winter mountaineering experience, you could join this intermediate-level course in Switzerland. Saas Grund is a great base as there are a variety of options, giving flexibility whatever the weather. The aim of the week is to develop your Alpine skills and tick off a few 4000ers.
Alpine Improvers
If you're already an accomplished rock climber currently leading British Severe or above, but have never been to the Alps, then you could join this course. The aim is to turn you into a self-sufficient Alpinist.
Jagged Globe also offers other courses and Alpine guided trips, including climbs of Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn and Eiger.
