Hi,

I am working in Birmingham later this week for a couple of days and want to train on some auto belays,

Can anyone recommend a wall in Birmingham with a good selection of auto belays?

I have been told the Depot has a good circuit board, so will use that if there aren’t any auto belays available.

Redpoint has one auto belay and Creation has two, if I'm remembering correctly. Sometimes Redpoint has a second set up, but I don't think it's in use at the moment.

The wall in the region that has the most is the Climbing Hut, but it's way out in Shrewsbury - and you need to ring first to check they're not being used by a school group if you're going on a weekday.

The Climbing hut doesn't have auto belays on the main wall, they are all on the 'play area'.

Where are you actually going to be, and are you willing to travel? The wall that has the most is Warwick uni in Coventry. 

There are two auto belays at Creation.

Don't the grades go up to something like 6b/+ though? I've only had a quick look on one of my infrequent visits.

Creation is your best bet then. It's also got reasonably extensive bouldering right by the auto belays.

Unfortunately, I can’t use the cafe, as I am more of a redpoint climber……
