Do you like your PHD minim bag? No neck baffle?

I bought PHD minim 600 bag (as new) on Ebay about a year ago as needed a new winter bag. I

I normally use a 2-season Rab Neutrino 200 bag which is about half the weight and about 10 years old. I've used it in all conditions over the years and always thought it to be a top piece of kit.

But...I actually find the PHD minim bag colder due to the lack of a proper neck baffle and also because of the poor hood design compared to the Rab. Has anyone else had this feeling? It seems like a totally mad thing to omit from a sleeping bag? Am I missing something or doing something silly?

I've had a Minim 400 for many years. It's rated to -5C 'operating' temp but I found that was really the lower limit and even slightly beyond that I was cold. It has no neck baffle, which I don't mind, but I don't remember an issue with the hood. I was always a warm sleeper, slightly less so as I've got older. I've always used relatively thin mats though, compared to what I see some using.

In more recent years I've used a Pipedream 600, which has a 'limit' of -12C, which is about right - maybe -10C?

Well if it doesn’t work, you may as well give it away…..

I’ll happily pay the postage 😁

I've found the 2 minim bags I own do run cold and it could be for that reason. What I have done for a number of years now is wear down trousers and top so I can keep warm out of the bag. After pairing up a down outfit with the minim I've found it fine now. Their bags are not overly warm but the weight is light.

I've sadly never had a PHD sleeping bag but every bag I've been in without a neck baffle I've found it uncomfortably drafty and cold.

Unless I was looking for a warm environment option (Mediterranean summer holiday) I wouldn't consider a bag without a neck baffle, a false economy weight wise.

I don’t find mine too bad but have the lightest one for the likes of the OMM so warmth is not the main consideration!
