Hi all,

My name is Alejandro Herranz and I am a psychology student at the Open University. As part of my studies, I am conducting a research project that contributes to my degree, exploring the relation between personality types and climbing anxiety during lead sport climbing indoors.

I am still in need of more participants, so I have asked the admins of the forum if I could post it here.

If you got some minutes to spare, I would be very thankful if you could complete the survey in the below link. It should take only about 10 to 15 minutes and can be easily done either on computer or smartphone/tablet.

No personal data is required or collected during the survey. You will be asked general questions about how you consider yourself to be in your day to day and in regards some situations during lead climbing indoors.

Happy to answer any questions you might have on the comments, and happy to share the results once the project is finished if it will be of interest to the community 😊

Thank you in advance!

Alex

I completed it. For the climbing questions, I think that all of them would have been relevant to sport climbing outdoors just as well as indoors. I rarely climb routes indoors, but more outdoors.

I'm afraid I gave up part way through as the questions seemed to assume a more extreme response than I feel. I dislike the idea of falling and try to avoid it, but I wouldn't say I feel "terror" or "uncontrollable fear".

My main reason for failing on routes indoors is that I can't take it serously enough to make a real effort, whereas climbing outdoors seems more real and more worthwhile. "Can't be arsed" wasn't one of the available answers.
