Hi,

Hoping for some people to help decide where to head for the summer. I've got 6-7 weeks to head somewhere cool for climbing and have friends heading to Chamonix and Norway. I've spent two seasons in Cham which were awesome and there are lots more routes I want to do.

I've never been to Norway but it looks amazing, would be climbing on the Lofoten Islands mostly.

I'd probably drive to whichever one I chose.

Help!

I had a great time in Norway, the granite is amazing. But, it did piss it down for 9 days out of 12 that we were there.

The weather is probably a bit more predictable in Cham(?)

Not saying it's not worth it if you've got 6-7 weeks, but have you scoped how long it takes to drive to Lofoten?

It's reeeeeeeeeeeeally far!

We did this drive last year. Was stunning and definitely formed part of the holiday. Came back down Sweden too and stopped off in bohusland. Highly recommended.

We managed it in a 4 week window so 6 weeks should be fine. Make sure you stop off at stetind on your way through. Awesome mountains

Norway. And Sweden.

one of my most memorable trips ever there last year. Two and a half weeks of bomber weather in July.

I was thinking I'd take a week/10 days to drive out and make a but of a roadtrip out of it, I did have a look at the distance and it is a bit eye watering...

In reply to onlyhalfwayup: The weather is a lot more predictable in Cham. I've never had good weather in northern Norway and summer is the wet season....

On the other hand I've spent maybe a month or 6 weeks in northern Norway in week long trips over several years and had good to excellent weather. Maybe lucky, but I know the Arctic had long periods of dry stable weather last summer too from friends who were there.

On the flip side I've also had periods of storm where you couldn't do much climbing in Chamonix!
