3rd Rock Climbing Trousers (Elasticity)

Has anyone else experienced elastic problems with the waistband in 3rd Rock Climbing trousers? I jut wondered it it was a oneoff or a design / manufacturing problem?  Mine were a present but stored (in a dark cupboard) before use and the elastic has gone after very few trips to the wall... Due to lack of order number as it was a present, customer service is unable to help...

Specifically the elastic "thread" bunching up and escaping through the waistband.

Mine lasted perhaps a little longer, maybe 9 months or so before this became particularly bad though.

Think they're the supernovas, which seem discontinued now.
