I'm about to go to madeira, and was wondering if I take my normal climbing shoes will the salt water damage them too much?
friends have taken spare or old climbing shoes before.
....and climbed less well?? Hence ensuring that the shoes get a sea wash?
:-}
You can always buy a new pair if you damage them. After all, the cost of the holiday is far more otherwise.
I wouldn't worry about it. The only "damage" I've ever noticed is the dye can come out of some leather uppers and give you funny coloured feet.
Salt water will make them stiff and crusty but nothing worse. Just take a few pairs and rinse them thoroughly in fresh water if you fall in
