Apologies if this topic has been raised previously - However, I have a number of used climbing ropes which are beyond their safe working life - Sooooo - anyone know where I can post/deliver/drop off etc said ropes so they can be recycled?? I am North West (Warrington) based if there are any local sites.

Many thanks all👍

Some while ago Beal were making it known that they'd take ropes for recycling - but I think it turned out only to apply to mainland Europe.
It may be that repurposing is the best option at the moment, weaving into hammocks/doormats etc, or chopping up and giving to the kiddies to practise their knots.

I've given ropes to the local Scout group in the past, on the strict understanding they could not be used for anything above ground level.

They chop them up and use them for knot practice, lashing rafts together, all sorts of things.

An artist friend made this from old ropes!

I'm sure there's a few people about which upcycle old ropes now. I know there's a chalk bag/belt maker on IG.

I can take one off your hands for a garden furniture project if you're happy to post it. DM me if so

I'm involved with a cave dig on the Mendips.  Lots of uses for old ropes.  In your area, try contacting the Bradford Potholing Club, or the Craven

I've left ropes on the garden wall, and they get taken very quickly - everyone wants a bit of rope for something.

If you are worried about people trying to climb with them you can chop them into 10m sections.

Perhaps a fishing net recycler? https://www.journey-blue.com/pages/net-collect-programme or fishing line recycling (that's nylon) https://www.anglers-nlrs.co.uk/about
