Too much poncing about on soft southern sandstone these days. Not like when I were a lad.

Stop talking schist

'Grit' is the last thing the youth need. They need today's generation to stop totally 'ing the world up around them such that they have a society worth contributing to when they come of an age to contribute to it as productive adults.

I've made quite the drive-by misunderstanding here.

Children need to be pointed at Northumberland where the real sandstone is.

No. Granite is the answer for them. Lose skin while you have plenty of time to grow it back.

I refuse to take the issue seriously. Last week they were demanding schools teach "resilience" now they've rebranded it "grit". I agree that children wouldn't need so much grit and resilience if we adults only stopped chopping up their world.

Now let's get back to geological punning.

Stone me. Ironically grit is one of the least resilient rock types going..

Don't blame the kids, it's the parents' fault

Kids are always getting slated by the old.  I'd take it all with a pinch of basalt.

To be fair, young people do have a far too sedimentary lifestyle.
