I am sure this has been covered extensively, but cant find the answer.  Heading off in the autumn for a 6 month+ trip to south america (mainly Argentina and Chile). Both of us are over 60 and have a number of minor pre-existing conditions (low likelihood  but high consequence).

Struggling to find obvious travel insurance, especially insurance which covers trekking/easy mountainineering/Kayaking etc as either limited to 3 months, or aimed at the gap year market and we are too old.....

Any suggestions/ steers.

One of your problems is the length of your stay outside of the UK/EEA. You may lose your entitlement to NHS services; and UK based insurers use repatriation to the UK/NHS as a way to avoid high costs for long term/complex stays.

The legislation is complex   https://www.essexlmc.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/EntitlementtoNHSHosp...

I would try tapping into the sailing community.. Three year circumnavigations by older folk quite common.

This link gets you to the right place on some semi random thread:

Sounds like Bishop Skinner are worth a call. I do use them, purely by chance.
