Replacing Vango Walking Boots?

For a number of years my 'go to' walking boots were the Vango Velan. I had a few pairs and they seemed well made for a budget boot but sadly Vango appear to have stopped making footwear.

Any ideas for something similar? I don't mind paying more - I'd prefer quality and a longer life. But any reccomendations for boots in the same price/quality bracket as the Vango stuff would be welcome.

Thanks...

Googling makes me think Blacks.co.uk might still have Vango Velan in stock if you order online

Unfortunately that's one of the historical pages that shows up on a few former stockists websites but none are actually available.

Has anyone got opinions on Grisport as a brand?

Decathlon have a big range.  The pair I used (and liked a lot) don't seem to be available anymore, but if you can get to a store, it is worth a look.  All their footwear seem to have quite a narrow forefoot, so might not work for you.

Thanks, I was just in there yesterday - but a smaller store with limited stock. Their sizing seems to work for me (skinny foot Tenaya wearer) but as you say they don't seem to have quite so many technical boots at the moment.

I'm quite a fan of the Merrell MOAB for a summer boot.  In particular they stick to anything, be that mud, wet rock or whatever, despite the grips not looking much.

Only downside is that they don't last as well as they perhaps could, but that's the tradeoff you get for a softish grippy sole.  I once tried a pair of Brasher Fellmasters but ended up selling them because while they were comfortable and supportive enough the relatively hard sole didn't stick to anything and I had no confidence at all in my foot placements.

didn't have time to do research so got some Nortiv 8 boots from amz as a quick buy for recent (fair weather) munro trips. i'd say pretty good value/comfort with not much wear after ~200km/30 munros..
