Evening all

I have a 4mm piece of rubber missing from the sunroof seal on my car that has started to leak.

The rest of the seal seems pretty good so I don’t want to replace the whole thing.

What could I use in place of the knob of Vaseline that is currently in the gap?

Neoprene tubular seals. You can get them on eBay for a few quid. Splice a bit in with some appropriate glue.

Evening! For a small gap like that, you could try using black RTV silicone sealant — it’s flexible, waterproof, and sticks well to rubber. Clean the area thoroughly first, then apply a thin bead and let it cure properly. It won’t be a perfect fix, but it’s a lot better than Vaseline and should stop the leak unless the seal is under pressure. Worth a shot before replacing the whole thing.

I agree mate. I’ll get some tomorrow.

ive just driven up the m6 for a nights camping and the Vaseline has blown out. A piece of chewing gum will do until I can get some tomorrow
