Just putting this out there for all the other women looking for something bigger.  After a long hunt and some unpleasant sizing experiences, we found the Ocun Women's Webee L harness which has a great women's fit. Fitted 34' waist 40' hip 28' leg for info, with a couple of inches to spare. Good functional and pretty(!) harness.

The Size 2 Petzl Corax goes to about 42" waist size (107cm).

This came up a while ago and it was also suggested to check rope access harnesses:

For people who are top heavy there is also a hazard of inverting if they wind up hanging suspended so it may be worth looking at a chest harness too (I don't personally and am a fairly portly bloke).

Yes the previous review was helpful. The size 2 petzl did not fit round the thighs - that was our limiting factor for all harnesses. Waist measurements were ok across a range of harnesses. Unisex rope access harnesses don’t fit women with longer rises.
Curvy ladies tend not to be top heavy which is fortunate as chest harnesses are uncomfortable for adult women - I tried a full body harness when I was expecting and decided giving up climbing for a while was preferable!

Ah, waist size was the challenge for my partner!

Years ago, I used to do some instructing with a Guide climbing group. One of the leaders was a very large lady. She used to belay wearing a Whillans harness with a long sling threaded through the loops to hold it together!

She never climbed, though.

The DMM "Centre" harnesses also size larger than most.

I have thought it would be great if they could come up with a mix and match system. Various size of waist belt, leg loop and belay loop. It would allow for variations in people's proportions and negate the need for men's/ women's fit. Shouldn't be too hard to do if ordered online, although having them available in shops like that could be trickier.

This was done early on in the development of sit harness, you bought the waist and leg loops separately so could get a good fit.

Rise height is the big issue for me which is why I'm in DMM as they seem the most generous.

That would definitely work for me. The leg loops on my DMM Viper are slightly too big, but the waist belt on the next size down didn't have enough tail to be happy with/allow extra clothing.

Agree, DMM is just about the only make with enough rise height to be comfortable for me. 'Unisex' harnesses are, I find, anything but!

I can't do women's harnesses as they don't cater for lager sizes.

Why do manufacturers think it's ok for fat men to want to climb, but not cuddly women?

Not that helps you rn but black diamond are coming out with plus sized harnesses for women and men for 2026.

In reply to Gemmazrobo:

Hopefully plus sized for women means larger than a UK 16.
