La Chamoniarde stopped publishing their popular and comprehensive weekly conditions reports a few months ago.  The English translation on the Alpine club website used to get several thousand hits/week in busy weeks.

This has been replaced by a rolling thread of daily conditions reports (only in French).  Computer translations of this should get most of the sense but may struggle with expressions like "cela parpine pas mal." (Nantillons glacier/Cordier pillar 25th June).   (my translation below).

There is now a whats app number (+33 7 69 74 98 42) where you can send in information/photos etc.  It would be really good if more Anglophones could send them information.

(Un parpaign is a breeze block.  Ça parpine means "it's breeze -blocking" ie lots of stone fall.  A colloquial climbing expression that many French speakers will not know.

If people are puzzled by other words/phrases by all means post them here.

Sad to see the routes book in the OHM is almost dead. Months between entries, sometimes only 10-20 entries in a year. I always felt it was a polite thing to do, to make an entry when I'd climbed a route, especially if it was a less-travelled one/very early season.

I will be summarising much of the information (along with my own observations and sources) in a fairly regular report here:

camptocamp is still used a fair amount and you can look at all recent logs, which can be filtered on altitude/style and also has a traffic light for conditions
