"Sad to hear of the passing of Luís Fernandes Silva, who died in a work related accident earlier this week.
Luis came to Cornwall from Portugal to take part in the BMC International Sea Cliff Climbing Meet, in 2013. I was lucky enough to spend a day climbing with him. We kept in contact and often spoke about the differences between UK and Portugal climbing.
Luis was heavily involved in the research of the corrosive effects of the ocean environment on climbing bolts on his native Portuguese sea cliffs. Plus, he was an all-round top guy. He will be missed."
Pete Greening has asked me to repost this with his photo of Luis at The Lizard. I remember him from that meet as I am sure will all those who were there, a great guy. The BMC international Meets were amazing. Hope that one day they can be full reinstated. RIP Luis
