Hi all! I'm a third year medical student and I'm looking to plan my elective for next year (mid-June to mid-July, 4 weeks). I'm really keen on anaesthetics and emergency medicine, and particularly interested in anything related to mountain/wilderness medicine.
I'm an avid climber / mountaineer / outdoors person, so I'm specifically looking at Western Canada - thinking Calgary or Vancouver area where I'd be close to the Rockies. The plan would be to do some climbing in August after (and during) the elective.
Has anyone done electives around Calgary/Alberta or Vancouver/BC? Particularly interested in any anaesthetic / emergency departments that might have mountain rescue links or trauma work.
Any suggestions or experiences would be massively appreciated! Cheers!
