Hi all,

hoped for a spot of advice for a first harness.

as per my previous post, i've had a total hip replacement so i'm keen for something supportive and comfy.

I'm getting involved with sport climbing and like to have my own gear where possible, just to enable me to get used to it, and learn what I do and don't like (fully understanding I may well look to change it sooner rather than later)

my previous thread, someone recommended the Black Diamond Big Gun, which looked ideal but seems to be discontinued.

any other suggestions?

trying something on options is limited, I live in the back end of knowhere and my closest option is gooutdoors.

Just google Big Wall Harness and plenty should come up.

I had one hip replaced November 23 and was back climbing/bouldering/munro bagging by Easter 24. At first I was very wary about jumping off and doing high rockovers but by summer 24 I was pretty much 100%. I choose not to run anymore and one thing I can’t do now is kick a ball straight, it goes off at thirty degrees! I use a Black Diamond Momentum harness - quite cheap, comfortable and really all I need. I doubt you need anything particularly supportive like a big wall harness.

grand thanks for the headsup.

I'm the same with football...that being said I wasn't great at that beforehand! Same with running, although that's something that I do notice - if I've run about with my lad it'll hurt afterwards. Anything else i'm generally fine.

grand, I'll likely nip into go outdoors over the weekend and get whatever feels comfy and see how I get on. At least i'll be held in place if anything decides to pop out
