At Woodcroft Quarry, on Amphitheatre Wall the routes Moving On Up and A Bit On The Side have a massive loose block at the top and its condition has deteriorated over the past year or so, according to a local experienced instructor.

One party on Sunday were advised as such, started up anyway, then commented on the looseness at the top.  One can lead a horse to water ...

When - not if - it goes, it'll take a huge chunk of rock with it and it's very close to other routes, and the path leading round to other sectors too.

Not knowing these things, does the local BMC rep / group / other interested party take pre-emptive action to deal with dangerous rock ?

I’ve been in Woodcroft quarry a good few times and seen rock fall and shouting regularly.
rock clearing is a right old malarkey. ROM a technical term

anyway this should be an interesting thread once it warms up 👍

There's lots of loose rock in Woodcroft, and you'll find loose rock on almost all limestone and sandstone crags in the area, even well-trafficked sport crags. Usual procedure is to put a chalk cross on it to warn the next person on the route. Exception would be if it's extremely serious e.g  a bolt in a loose block in which case  I'd take the hangar off the first bolt on the route and post something here. But you say an experienced guy has looked at it, and instructors using the place are aware, so I'd reckon they'd have acted if it was too out of the ordinary. Anyway, maybe someone else will add to this.
