When working out I like to watch a good movie and if there is inspiration there as well so much the better. The other day I recalled the film of the late Martin Moran's traverse of the 4000ers with Simon Jenkins. It's an excellent short film (the book is also good, I'm discovering) and very evocative: headlamps the size of tea cups, brick-sized radios and a Mk 3 (?) Land Rover ambulance being used as a camper van. And analogue navigation! An archetypal forgotten classic, I'd say.
Here's another: Mark Beaumont's cycle from Alaska to Tiera del Fuego via the summits of Denali and Aconcagua. Worth a watch for the mountain sequences even if you have no interest in the pedalling and another very impressive achievement. And also a very good read (same can be said of all his projects, in fact).
So, can you add to the list?
