Just read on the German Alpine Assoc website that the Huber Buam established a new speed record for Zodiac on El Cap. on 17th June of 1hr and 51 mins and 34 secs (!!) thus beating their previous best time of 2hrs 31 mins which they set last year.

Dear JonC

What is the point of it in the first place.

I'll answer this...

Publicity, sponsorship and money.

No, probably just more publicity so they can get more sponsorship and money.

Or maybe they are just trying to push their limits to see what they can do, and obviously having a good time doing it...? Dont prejudge them just because they are rock gods compared to us mere mortals.

What is the point? What is the point in climbing anything? There is no point. There is no point in turning up at Almscliffe after work and nocking a few routes off. Its just fun (although Bob may disagree with this particular example). It has no point. It dosn't need one.
