Hi, i am looking around for about 40-60 climbing holds for a Home Bouldering Wall and have found the cheapest so far to be www.customholds.com but I am not sure of the quality or their sutibility for this purpose, has anyone used or owned some?
Cheers

In reply to wilfrid_sargeant:

Before you expend any more time choosing holds, get in touch with them to check they're still producing. A few months ago I tried ordering from them but got an e-mail back saying they were "not in a position to take orders, for reasons beyond their control".

Bought the garage set off them, along with a couple of bigger slopers. Good for the price I paid (about £70 total).

Thanks for the good advice but they have been posting about closing and re-opening for orders at xmas time etc. so i think they are in business.
Cheers

In reply to wilfrid_sargeant: I bought some a few months ago, and although good holds, found issues with the bolt holes being crooked, and some were big/some small.. because the holes were crooked, the holds cracked and chipped easily against the wall.

Holdz have seemed a lot better then custom holds..

In reply to wilfrid_sargeant:

Bought the garage set - didn't think it was that great value for money and they aren’t really skin friendly. Holdz are good depending on what holds you get. (love the sloperz, not too impressed with the pocketz) You get what you pay for....

Best bet is to get some old holds from your local wall or if you need to buy, then research what is good at your local walls and buy accordingly.

Also I’d buy holds on what your weaknesses are : crap at slopers ... buy a load of slopers, problem solved.

Currently looking at HRT & Core holds .......

Glad to hear they're back up and running.

In reply to Burnsie:

Good call all round. I got some Core ones and can recommend them, although the sets usually have about 20 holds I think, so maybe more holds of a particular type than you wish/need. Speak to Kev, he's also looking for more for his woodie so maybe you could split a couple of sets to get a good mix each?

In reply to wilfrid_sargeant: I've bought some for home and climbing wall use. I think for home use they are generally good value and have some cool shapes. For our local climbing wall we found they tended to chalk up quicker than other holds and were not quite as durable.

The Holdz range have proven to be a good choice at our climbing wall.
