Hi, just bought myself and Mrs The Dog a Kettlebell each, does anyone have any good free sources of routines/exercises for them?
I would be grateful for a link or a heads up.

The kettlebell bible by Stan Pike is well worth the money, pretty much covers every benefit that you can get from kettlebells.

There are also loads of facebook groups worth a look, Mike Mahler's stuff is excellent.

I have been using them now for about 5 years, they arent the be all and end all like some people choose to market them but another useful tool to stay fit and strong.

Remember to take care of your hands, especially if you are a climber. Long snatching/swing sessions can be brutal on the palms.

I started going to the kettlebells classes at ponds forge before Christmas excellent workout, chin-strapped by the end and can hardly walk for a couple of days afterwards but it must be doing some good, right?

What they have us doing is three sets of three exercises ie 3x 90 sec; 30 seconds per exercise for about half an hour if you put the effort in it is puke inducing

Have fun.

I have two kettlebells, a 24kg and a 32kg, the 24kg one is rubber coated and tears my hands to pieces without gloves so with that I use a thin pair of Nike weight training gloves which arent too bad. The 32kg bell has a smooth metal handle so I tend to just use a dab of chalk when use that.

Gloves do limit your control and grip, especially with the heavier bells. I would definitely say the thinner the better when it comes to gloves as they tend to bunch up and your control then is seriously compromised, last thing you want is a bell going through the telly!

I used to use them loads before I started climbing but now I only use them about once a week.

Last question, What size Kettlebell should I get for me. I bought a 7.5 kilo but now realise that is probbly weigh (get it?) too small.
I'm a small to medium build (no muscle bound hero) but relatively strong.

This says 16-20kg for a man:

I'm a relatively small woman and have two 8kg kettlebells plus a 12kg one that I use when I'm feeling strong.
