muscle ups v pull ups

So i was wandering about the relative pros and cons of muscle ups v pull ups i can do 3 muscle ups in a row i can also do about 20 pull ups in a row.So what am i getting from 1 and not from the other and which is better.

id go for MU everytime, there a much better exercise than PU. if your doing them on rings look into working on Basic Ring Strength 1-3 exercises.

In reply to kev74: Muscle ups will be useful training for mantelshelf problems. Pullups are okay for general fitness and as a basis for starting more intense exercises such as lock-offs and one arm pullups. If you are using full grip for your pullups try doing finger tip pullups on small holds. Another good exercise is to do pullups on sloping holds. To prevent getting injuries, do some pressups and military presses and to avoid rotator cuff injuries see:

yeah but it could just be me of course, It seems quite hard on the stabilising muscles of the shoulders. (build up slowly or) avoid imho

different exs for different gains. do both.

MUs are much more compound and about synching different muscle groups fast, PUs about peripheral strength and isolating upper body.

try adding weight.
