Grey mare's Tail at Kinlochleven, did it freeze??

Yes, partially at least. A friend of mine took some photos a few days ago and it looked to have a considerable amount of ice on, with a stream of water flowing down the middle. I don't know if it had been more frozen at any point, but it looked fairly impressive!

As I say I'm not sure if it had been more frozen than in the photo I've seen, but it wouldn't quite have been climable in that condition, not unless you wanted a major soaking!

I don't know if my friend took the picture once the minor thaw had started, but if so, it may well have been climable a few days ago.

where is the Kinlochleven one? we climbed something that way on the 3rd Jan, its just 40 mins along the WHW from Kinlochleven heading North. Is it the same?

Nope, its just at the back of the town. 5 mins walk from the road end.

It's normally just called the Grey Mare's Waterfall here (no Tail). Think it might take a new ice age to freeze it into climbable condition, but it's still a fine sight and there's also a curious sign at the Kearan Road turn-off (between the Surgery and the Police Station) worth looking out for with Grey Mare's (British spelling) on one side and Gray Mare's (American) on the other!
