The Uller is Jöttnar’s high performance winter base layer. Made from a yak wool and synthetic blend, it was over two years in development before launch last winter where it quickly sold out. Yak wool provides superior warmth, breathability and moisture transfer when compared to other wools, as well as superior odour resistance. It’s soft to the touch, stretchy and luxurious to wear.
Updates to the 2016 version include a lengthening of the sleeves across all sizes and a slimmer, more athletic fit.
Tommy Kelly, Jöttnar co-founder, says, “The natural anti-odour characteristic of yak wool is quite remarkable, and partly stems from the longer-lengthed individual wool fibres of a yak, compared to the humble sheep. When spun, this therefore means that there are fewer joints in the yarn and therefore fewer places for bacteria – the source of odour – to congregate. Combined with its warmth and comfort, the Uller is ideally suited for multi-day and expedition use.”
