The Crux Expedition Award is an annual grant to encourage young climbers to try for adventurous objectives.

The award is in its third year and has previously supported trips to Mt Hunter in Alaska and the Zanskar valley, India. You can read about the 2017 expedition here.

The award panel is made up of experienced climbers Tom Ripley, Carol McDermott and Stephen Reid. They will look at submissions and grant the winner based on the submission's exploratory nature, style, and ambition. Submissions do not have to be a first ascent - it could be a first winter ascent, or an alpine style ascent, or just visiting a remote location of which you have no previous experience.
