The Climbing Experience, Maidstone are hiring.

We're excited to be expanding our great team of climbers, coaches, setters and all-round friendly people.

The Climbing Experience is an expansive and inclusive rock-climbing gym based in Maidstone, Kent.  At the core of our business is a desire to create a space for climbing that is accessible to everyone. The G13 Bouldering Gym is at the heart of the centre, while our Fun Wall auto-belay park creates room anyone and everyone can experience climbing. We place a high value on being a friendly community who welcome climbers of all ages at whatever level. We just love climbing and get psyched when we see people enjoying themselves and pulling hard.

As the business continues to grow, we have opportunities in a number of areas. (Full-time, Part-Time and flexible hours available)

  • Duty managers - responsible for managing the centre during a shift, making sure that customers are looked after and that the centre runs smoothly. Good communication and organisational skills are crucial to excelling in this role. Being a keen climber with coaching or setting experience is definitely an advantage.
  • Route-setters - we are keen to find someone to join our in-house setting team. Experience setting boulder problems is a huge positive, but more importantly, you will need to be a strong climber, able to consistently climb f7A / V6 and above. Training and ongoing support will be provided with opportunities to go and visit other centres and to climb at varied places from time to time included as part of the role.
  • Coaches - we are looking for passionate climbers who want to coach and develop the skills, physical strength and mental attitude to be a better climber. You will be asked to get involved in coaching adults through a program of targeted structured sessions and kids for NIBAS and squad. You must have experience of coaching to a high standard and climbing related qualifications would be looked upon favourably. You will need to demonstrate how you would deliver safe, engaging, motivating and effective coaching sessions.

For the right candidate, there are opportunities to take on a full-time mixed role, inclusive of both coaching and/or setting/duty manager responsibilities.

As part of the selection process, we may ask you to demonstrate your experience by climbing with us or running a short coaching session.  You will need to be enthusiastic and have a great attitude. Staff at TCE are asked to demonstrate our values of personal responsibility, continuous improvement, teamwork and open, honest communication.

Benefits include (but certainly aren't limited to) free climbing and generous cafe and gear discount in our shop.

In the first instance, drop an email with an intro letter to ceri@theclimbingexperience.co.uk

We want to know why you love climbing, where you'll fit into our team, and any relevant experience you have in previous positions.
