Role Overview
As Deputy Centre Manager your main responsibilities are:
Line management to the all-rounders
In our companies "All-Rounders" are, generally speaking, receptionists and climbing instructors. But they will muck in with all jobs from washing holds, cleaning, admin, party organisations or whatever else is required. You will be their direct line manager which means you will provide them with ongoing training, moderations, mentoring and support to deliver a great experience for the hundreds of customers who will visit the centre each week.
You will be responsible for the all-rounders from day one until the day they leave, including hiring, inductions, organising training and tracking progress, providing appraisals and, if necessary, disciplinaries.
We understand that you will need support to complete this role well and this will come from working closely with your Centre Manager and further support from the General Manager and CEO. As part of your development we may enrol you on external courses, provide guidance to follow for the majority of situations, practical support for the more complex issues that may arise and generally help you as much as we can to develop your cohesive and motivated team.
Management of reception
You will also be responsible for the smooth running of reception as a whole. This includes serving customers face to face and all bookings for Flashpoint & Crazy Climb. You will be responsible for the receptionist and the customer service they provide. You will train and moderate them in order to ensure the friendly, welcoming and professional service we aspire to is delivered every day, every time.
Part of the team
Although this role requires a fair amount of admin time, all of the management must regularly work "on the floor" to provide a good example to the team, look for inefficiencies and improvements, maintain and develop relationships with regular customers and keep a "finger on the pulse" of the company. So you can expect to be rota'd on for Duty Manager, Reception and Instructional shifts on top of your "off-floor" admin days. The "off-floor" days are flexible, giving you the opportunity to adjust your working day to suit other aspects of your life.
