So why would you want to join us?

We are a growing group of centres (this one is number 5) which means you get to make a big difference in a local start up business but be supported by a larger group.

Our ethos revolves around developing the skills of our team, so you can expect support to develop your career.

Working at a climbing wall is fun! Particularly if you are passionate about climbing and the communities climbing walls create.

The work is varied, interesting and just the right amount of challenge to keep your career progressing.

Swansea is an amazing place to be based for someone who loves the outdoors, and with some flexible working hours you are well placed to make the most out of the local area.

Who are we looking for?

Our ideal candidate has a passion for climbing, a solid background in coaching at a climbing wall and has a desire to lead a team of coaches in providing a program from entry level Crazy Climb sessions to high end coaching of our squad.

They will have the compassion, drive and professionalism to be a great leader of their team and the wider Swansea climbing community.

They can maintain a calm, approachable and professional manner, even in the face of adversity, and are willing to roll up their sleeves to help those they lead.

Someone who is open, honest, learns from their mistakes and is driven to help their peers and team succeed.

What's more they will understand the incredible effect climbing can have on people's lives. Through connecting them to their bodies, minds, other people and the natural environment.

Desired Experience

Customer service experience in a fast paced environment

Experience developing and/or training a team

IT skills including Google Drive, Microsoft Office and Rock Gym Pro

Role Overview

As Head Coach your main responsibility is to develop the team of coaches and Crazy Climb instructors so that they can provide a full program of sessions at Flashpoint Swansea.

Work with CEO to adopt existing frameworks

Initially you will work closely with, and be trained by, the CEO who has a background in coaching to a high level. You will be given frameworks for the sessions we intend to run at the site but you will develop these sessions over time to create a program that suits your local community.

Delivering and developing our sessions

Initial sessions will include Crazy Climb, Adult Tasters, Family Tasters, Boulder Monkeys (NICAS) and Private Lessons. Once these core products are working we will develop further sessions including an academy and squad.

Training staff to deliver exceptional sessions

In our company we employ "All-Rounders" who are generally receptionists and climbing instructors. But they will muck in with all jobs from washing holds, cleaning, admin, party organisations or whatever else is required. It will be your role to train them to deliver the sessions we provide and to monitor the quality of their sessions and their progress.

Part of the Team

You will be expected to run many sessions for our customers yourself, in part to provide great service but also to provide an exceptional example to the team. Although this role requires a fair amount of admin time, all of the management must regularly work "on the floor" to keep a finger on the pulse of the centre. So you can expect to be rota'd on for Duty Manager, Reception and Instructional shifts on top of your "off-floor" admin days. The "off-floor" days are flexible, giving you the opportunity to adjust your working day to suit other aspects of your life.
