This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic climber to join our climbing wall team at the South coast’s highest climbing wall which boasts well over 1200 square meters of climbing. You will be part of the team based at Calshot Activities Centre, one of the country’s largest activities centres, directly on the shores of the Solent.
The climbing wall is open to climbers daily and along with our established climbing clubs, we pride ourselves on providing learning and development for all levels of climber from our vising school groups to instructor training and awards.
For over 60 years Calshot has operated as an activities centre and offers residential and non-residential visits in an unrivalled number of exciting water and land-based activities. Our historic hangars accommodate a state-of-the-art climbing complex, a dry Ski Slope, plus the only indoor Velodrome on the South coast.
As a Wall Supervisor you will be responsible for:
- Wall supervision and floor walking, checking that customers are using safe practices and conducting membership assessments
- Climbing Instruction of our climbing clubs and courses
- Equipment inspections
- Route setting of our boulder cave and roped walls
- Assisting the climbing wall lead with wall development projects
If you are enthusiastic, motivated and hold CWI and/or RCI, preferably with experience of working at indoor walls please apply.
Key skills include:
- Broad knowledge of climbing equipment & belay devices
- Front of house and customer service.
- Knowledge of PPE inspection and recording
- Working at height &/or Route setting experience
- Good instructional and coaching skills
- Ability to organise workload and work unsupervised
Please note: This is a full time, permanent position with an average 37 hour week over a 6 week shift pattern. This includes evening and weekend working. Part time working would be considered.
Having completed your full initial training, development does not stop, we would be looking to invest in our staff through higher NGB awards and developing coaching skills which are critical to ensuring Calshot is the premier Centre on the South coast.
There will also be the opportunity for the post holder to use their spare time to join the training for our multi activity instructors in the other activities run by the centre.

Salary Range: £18,562 - £18,877 per annum (Plus 50% enhancement of pay for Sundays and 100% enhancement for any bank holidays worked)
