New staff wanted! City Bouldering Westfield Jobs

City Bouldering is opening up its second site in Westfield Shepherds Bush in April 2022, and we are looking for friendly and passionate staff to create a centre with great vibes! We are looking for Duty Managers to start immediately in our Aldgate location and then move to our Westfield site when it opens, and for an Assistant Manager.

At City Bouldering we aim to provide an inclusive climbing environment where our customers can have fun, relax, meet new and old friends, and improve their fitness in a centre underpinned by the highest standards of safety and customer service.

The Westfield site is situated in the square outside the Wood Lane tube station, next to Westwood Sports Pub. The centre features over 500sqm of bouldering, 6 auto belays, a retail shop and escape room. 

DUTY MANAGERS & ASSISTANT MANAGERS

Although some experience in the leisure/climbing industry is preferred, we are willing to provide training to the right people. You will be trained across all activities and departments, and be responsible for the smooth running of the centre when you are on shift. You will report directly to, and have support from, the Centre Manager.

Responsibilities of the Duty Manager Role

  • Ensuring the safety of all customers and maintaining the centre's facilities
  • Managing reception, making coffee, and roaming the centre 
  • Running the Escape Room Experience
  • Responsible for keeping the centre aesthetically pleasing and clean
  • Lead the team in the setup and cleaning of the centre
  • Responsible for opening and closing the building (key holder) and carrying out opening and closing checks 
  • Organising staff breaks 
  • Dealing with accidents in a professional manner 
  • Take charge of the building's Emergency Accident Procedure should an incident occur

Responsibilities of the Assistant  Manager Role (All the above as well as)

Essential Skills

  • An outgoing and vibrant personality
  • Passionate about climbing
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience working in a fast-paced role

  • Able to communicate clearly and politely, both verbally and in writing
  • A desire to work hard and become part of our team
  • Ability to use initiative and solve problems

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of working in the climbing industry, ideally with Auto Belays
  • Experience of delivering NICAS or NIBAS sessions
  • Experience as a Duty Manager
  • Personal climbing experience
  • Climbing Qualifications (CWI or relevant experience)
  • Experience working in a leisure facility or retail 
  • First Aid Qualification
  • Events Management Experience
  • Social Media/Marketing
  • Yoga Teaching, Personal Training

Hours and Location

We are looking for 4 full time Duty Managers, 2 x Assistant Manager and can offer 40 hours per week. We are looking for 2 to start immediately at our Aldgate location for training, and 2 more to start mid March. Once trained you will work at our Westfield Location which is planned to open in April 2022.
