Job Summary
We have a very exciting opportunity for the right person to join the team as Centre Manager.
This is an extremely important position here at Volume 1 Climbing, responsible for the smooth running of the centre, by overseeing day to day management of the team and business operations.
Reporting directly to the Directors this role is a senior position in the company and is key in helping the company deliver and maintain its mission statement, values and financial targets.
Key responsibilities
- Be the face of Volume 1 Climbing at all times
- Day to day management of the centre and staff
- Assisting and delivering the business growth and expansion plans
- Management of the staff rota
- Assistance with RGP (RockGym Pro) bookings and procedures with the Office Manager
- Deliver staff training and mentoring including appraisals
- Development of new policies and procedures to improve efficiency
- Business development of new offerings within the centre
- Analysing customer data within company systems to help improve turnover and efficiency
- Assisting with Health & Safety including risk assessments
- Organising external maintenance checks
- Stock Management – Cleaning supplies, stationary, first aid, log books etc.
- Dealing with customer complaints and passing on feedback to the Directors where necessary
- Liaising with Marketing Coordinator and Managing Director on upcoming marketing ideas and events including centre signage
Essential Skills
- Management experience of a medium sized team (15 - 30 people) or bigger
- Experience managing staff rotas and schedules
- Professional but caring management style
- Excellent customer service
- Competent at basic Microsoft office applications
- Able to communicate clearly and politely, verbally and in writing
- Unflustered in the face of the changing climate to ensure the customer still has the best experience
- Previous climbing experience

- Experience working in the climbing industry
- Climbing qualifications
- Experience with RockGym Pro, Shopify and When I Work
Hours
- 40 hours per week.
- Predominantly Monday – Friday with occasional weekend work when needed to best support the business and team during peak times.
