PrestonWall is one of the northern climbing centres of the Lakeland Climbing Centre Limited. We currently have a vacancy for a Duty Manager to join the team and help build a climbing community for new and experienced climbers. You will be working closely with the Centre Manager and other Regional Mangers to provide a friendly, efficient and safety conscious centre of excellence for roped climbing and bouldering.

As part of a small multifunctional team the role of Duty Manager is central to the effective running of the Centre. You will be responsible for the provision of a safe, fun and welcoming climbing environment. When on duty you will directly manage the day-to-day operations including the reception, instruction and retail. There is potential to be involved in both the instruction and route setting program as time and manager responsibilities allow for.

I just clicked on this to see whether they specified the salary, and surprise surprise; they don't. This should be a legal requirement.

Why? If you're serious about the application then all you have to do is ask. Any decent employer/agency would confirm the salary banding no problem.

Probably the reason is its terrible. If ive had to ask the salary of a job before its not been worth asking. If its a decent salary it always posted.

In my experience salaries are never stated in job adverts, some will be above expectations and some below

You can see from the application form the game they're playing. They ask candidates what they're currently being paid in their current job and then adjust the salary they're offering as low as they can get away with. Its scummy behaviour.

In my experience any job worth doing posts the salary. It shows the company takes the applicant seriously as a person and acknowledges that the pay is the most important thing. Why be all coy and make the applicant ask?
