The Westway and West 1 Climbing centres (the most central Roped climbing centres in London) have the unique opportunity to be able to advertise multiple positions in our Climbing team - Climbing Duty Manager, Climbing Coaches plus a new role of Setter Trainee.

The centres are looking for talented individuals to join us in our Operations, Coaching and Setting teams. Positions range from full time to casual from £11.05 to £14 per hour (£23k to £29k FTE per annum), depending on role and experience. Job purposes are highlighted below. Not only are you joining the Westway and West 1 team but you will also be working with one of the UKs largest employer of climbing professionals (Everyone Active) and all the advancement opportunities that go with it. Climbing instructors (varying contracts)

The centres combined offer a coaching team like no other. We have a tiered system of instructor ranks that reward experience and expertise. As one of the largest & most successful climbing programmes in the UK you will have the opportunity to grow as an indoor Climbing instructor like nowhere else.  

To provide instruction in all aspects of the Climbing Programme. As a Climbing instructor, you will be responsible for teaching climbing and motivating customers in developing their climbing skills. You will help people of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels and will be responsible for promoting a safe climbing environment for experienced and novice climbers alike.

Climbing Duty Manager (24 hours available per week)

You will be responsible for supervising all aspects of health and safety to ensure the safety of customers, climbing coaches, route setters and contractors. You will ensure the climbing walls are well used and maintained to a high standard by offering safe, exciting and challenging routes to climb and provide expert advice to climbing customers on all aspects of climbing. Climbing Duty Managers are a key reference point for staff and customers while on shift and are knowledgeable in all operations within the climbing centre.

Climbing Duty Assistants (16 hours available per week)

The stepping stone to becoming a Climbing Duty Manager.

Trainee Setter (32 hours per week)

This new role is the first that has been offered in getting direct access to the Route setting pathway for Westway and Everyone Active. With a centre that caters from grassroots to national level competitions the scope for learning is extensive. The role initially consists of training and setting operations facilitation and one day setting. This is an entry level role that involves all aspects of route setting operations between Westway and West1.
