We have an amazing opportunity for an experienced coach to join our team. Our current Head Coach, having done an amazing job of setting up our coaching programme, is going back to University to expand her knowledge in sports psychology.
Key Terms
Salary: 22-23k per annum starting pay dependant on experience
Relocation Bonus: considered for the right candidate
Hours: 40hrs a week (flexible working hours within reason) some weekends and evenings required
Holiday: 33 days per year
Line manager: Centre Manager but will also work closely with the General Manager and CEO
The Centre
The Flashpoint Group is currently made up of multiple activity centres across Bristol, Swindon and Swansea with a speciality in indoor climbing. The site in Swindon consists of Freedog (a Trampoline Park), Clip'n Climb (a fun, kids focused climbing activity) and Flashpoint (a world class bouldering wall).

The Role
Once that base level training is completed you will work closely with the Centre Manager and the CEO (Jack, who has 20+ years experience in coaching at all levels including running CWI, CWDI and Coaching Awards) to continue developing our growing coaching program in the bouldering wall. This is vital to us developing the community and the success of the company. This is your chance to get a deeper understanding of how to develop, run, market and maintain a large coaching program and really put your mark on the local area and the industry.
Base level training will get you up to speed with all the activities in the centre, this is particularly important as it will be your role to train and moderate staff monitoring the trampolines, running Clip'nClimb sessions and Flashpoint bouldering sessions. On top of this you will be trained as a Duty Manager so that you can cover all shifts in the centre as necessary.
The management team have their own responsibilities (HR, OPs, Program Development, etc) but also get involved regularly "on the floor" on customer facing shifts to support and lead the team. This is not just a desk job!
Specific Areas of Responsibility
- Flashpoint Juniors/Youth Coaching Programme
- Flashpoint Adults Bouldering Program
- Centre Wide Schools and Youth Group Program
- Train, Moderate and Develop the activity crew
- Lead the team by completing "on floor" shifts
- Quality Control of activities
- Assist with Health and Safety regarding activities
- Child Welfare Lead
Desirable Qualities
- Personal climbing to a good standard (V5 Boulders, 7a Sport or above)
- Mentored or trained new coaches
- Coaching Qualifications (FCA, DCA) and Fundamentals courses
- Management experience (of departments or people)
- Hold the CWI or higher qualifications
Essential Qualities
- Computer literate
- Diligent administration
- Excellent written and spoken communication
- A deep understanding of what makes excellent customer service
- Delivered a wide variety of climbing sessions for all ages and abilities
- Self motivated with a strong work ethic
- Experience coaching / instructing at a busy climbing wall
