Climbing Centre Manager

Permanent position, full time (40 hours per week)

Location: Newport, Shropshire

Availability: Immediate

Newport Rock has over 450 sq.m of bouldering. In addition there are 10 roped lines giving between 20 and 30 roped routes. There are genuine Moon Board and Campus boards with routes changed regularly. We offer something for every climber or aspiring climber including a child-friendly bouldering area. 

We are looking for someone to manage the centre day to day. This is a hands-on role that will see you responsible for all aspects of running the centre. Signing in customers, taking bookings, helping with kit, delivering sessions, managing schedules, route setting, looking after the centre and importantly making a friendly and safe environment for all our customers. Ideally the candidate will be a climber with a strong work ethic, good organisational and interpersonal skills who is keen and motivated to take on this broad role. There will be opportunities to take relevant training courses.

You will be expected to work 40 hours per week and will include some work on the weekends and weekday evenings.

Desirable qualities and qualifications:

• Hold the CWI or higher qualifications
• Active and keen climber
• Previous experience working with children and/or young adults
• Experience with Health and Safety regulations
• Experience instructing at a climbing wall
• First aid qualifications 
• Experience in route setting
• Previous management experience

Salary: 20-22k per annum starting pay dependant on experience and qualifications
