Westway Climbing is looking for a coordinator for the Westway Competition Squad for 2024.

Westway has a long history of competition climbing, with numerous high profile names having come through the coaching system. The centre has a reputation for coaching excellence, and has outstanding facilities for training and hosting competitions. Our in-house setting team and guest setters provide high quality routes and blocs, and the centre has long been a venue for national competitions.

The Competition Squad runs in line with the calendar year, with the focus being on the Youth Climbing Series which takes place in the Autumn months. It is expected that the Competition Squad Coordinator will manage the training programmes of all members of the Squad ( at present 6 youths) to maximise performance in the YCS, and other suitable competitions throughout the year.

A selection process will take place in early December 2023, with the new Competition Squad starting the 2024 programme in early January 2024. It is expected that the successful candidate will play an integral part in this process, along with existing coaching staff.

This is an administrative role, which does not include any coaching hours. Each athlete is expected to have four hours per week. As such additional hours coaching performance or any of our expansive coaching programme could be considered as part of a wider role within the coaching department.
