The Role
City Bouldering Stratford is looking for a dynamic and passionate leader to drive forward the company's vision of making climbing enjoyable and accessible for all. Our Centre Manager will be responsible for creating an atmosphere where customers can have fun, relax, meet new friends and old, and improve their fitness in an inclusive and supportive environment, underpinned by the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, customer service and positive team engagement.
Managing our centres requires an energetic and self-motivated person, able to motivate a team and ensure our customers have a fantastic experience during every visit leaving them looking forward to their next.

The Person
The right person will have experience in a similar management position, a track record of growth within a management position and people management experience.
Climbing experience is desirable but not essential. Ideally you have experience within a climbing environment or centre but we are also willing to train the right attitude and leadership skills at one of our other London centres for a few months. A centre manager from our existing centres, along with two directors will be there to support and train you. You will than be involved in the initial set up of the centre.  We encourage applicants with transferable experience from Leisure or industries to apply.

Climbing is one of the fastest growing lifestyle sports in the UK. This is our third site and we are in the process of expanding further. We are a fast growing company with lots of opportunities for people to grow and develop. 


Responsibilities of the Role

  • Reporting directly, working closely with the Directors you will be responsible for all elements of running the day to day of the centre. 
  • Operations - Ensuring all relevant H&S at work is managed and enforced
  • Strategy - You will ultimately be responsible for growth in sales and repeat customer performance 
  • Coordinating with the Head of Community Engagement to create fun events and promotions to grow the community and prompt the centre
  • Managing of a team of around 12 people with the assistance of an Assistant Manager
  • Managing staff, leading inductions, training, coaching, ensuring all relevant procedures are followed and maintained
  • Once you have proven yourself in the role you will be empowered and given freedom to add your own touch to the centre

Essential Skills

  • Be a confident team leader with a proven track record of managing teams
  • Excellent verbal, written and organisational skills
  • Outstanding problem solving ability
  • Good IT Literacy (word, excel, powerpoint etc)
  • Have excellent customer service skills.
  • Be driven towards personal development and motivated to help others
  • A passion for climbing

Desirable Skills

  • Experience managing a children's sport programme
  • Experience of training instructors
  • Experience in managing a leisure facility or Cafe/Bar

Hours and Location
We operate a flexible agreement, The position will be full time 40 hours per week, includes some evening work and include weekend work if required. It will be based at Stratford E15 but we are happy to train you at our centre in Aldgate EC3N for a few months if required. The Stratford Site is expected to open in Feb/Mar 2024 but we want you to get involved for the set up.
