Head Route Setter Jobs

We are looking for an interim head route setter capable of taking responsibility for City Bouldering's 3 London gyms in Aldgate, White City and Stratford. This is an interim position for 10 months to cover the absence of our head setter starting in November.

Responsibilities: 

As the Head Route Setter at City Bouldering, you will have one main goal of delivering fun, creative and inspiring sets for our customers. This will include being responsible for:

  • Quality, creativity and consistency of setting throughout the centers
  • Development of a setting team
  • Involvement in event and competition planning
  • Maintenance of route setting equipment
  • Health and safety and policies and procedures
  • Hold orders and wall design input for new sites

Ideal candidate:  

  • A proven track record of setting in commercial climbing gyms
  • Genuinely passionate in leading sets to be creative, fun and inspiring 
  • Ability and desire to make setting accessible, welcoming and exciting for beginners and climbers of all physical abilities
  • A team leader who can motivate, inspire and develop the setting team
  • A continued desire to learn and use feedback constructively
  • Strong understanding of route setting health and safety requirements
  • Experience in designing and maintaining a safe and high quality setting program is desirable but not essential
