Job Summary

Volume 1 Climbing located in East Grinstead, West Sussex is seeking a passionate and experienced Centre Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our climbing facility. Reporting directly to the Directors, this key role will play a crucial part in achieving our mission to provide an inclusive and accessible climbing experience for all.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all aspects of centre operations, including staff scheduling, customer service, and facility maintenance.
  • Develop and implement staff training programs, conduct performance reviews, and foster a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction by proactively addressing customer feedback and resolving any issues promptly.
  • Manage all aspects of centre safety and compliance, including conducting risk assessments, implementing safety protocols, and coordinating with external contractors.
  • Drive business growth by exploring and implementing new revenue streams, such as corporate events, memberships, and partnerships.
  • Manage and monitor departmental budgets, including café, route setting, and other operational expenses.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new initiatives and policies to improve efficiency and enhance the customer experience.
  • Actively participate in the recruitment and selection process for all centre staff.

Essential Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years of management experience within the climbing, leisure, or sports industry.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a strong ability to build rapport with customers and staff.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Passion for climbing and a strong commitment to the company's values

Desired Skills:

  • RCI/CWI Qualifications or higher.
  • Safeguarding experience.
  • Experience with marketing and event planning.
  • Data analysis and reporting skills.
