Head Routesetter at Indirock Jobs

About the Role

We're looking for a passionate, creative, and highly skilled Head Routesetter to lead our setting team and shape the climbing experience at Indirock. You'll be responsible for delivering consistently fresh, fun, and challenging bouldering problems for climbers of all levels, while nurturing a positive and collaborative setting culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate all boulder setting across the gym, ensuring a balanced range of styles, consistent grades, and accessibility
  • Work closely with the operations team to plan the setting schedule
  • Collaborate with other setters to test, tweak and refine problems
  • Deliver in-house training and mentoring for junior setters
  • Maintain tools, source and maintain holds, volumes and oversee wall cleanliness
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely and efficiently, following best practice
  • Listen to climber feedback and adjust setting accordingly
  • Design and set for comps or events at Indirock, bringing fresh ideas and energy to the wall, including partnerships with national competitions
  • Ensure all setting activities follow current H&S legislation and company procedures
  • Draft and keep up to date our routesetting policies and procedures

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience as a lead or senior bouldering routesetter (minimum 1–2 years desirable)
  • Strong vision, creativity, and understanding of movement at all grades
  • Strategic thinking and interested in understanding customer behaviour
  • Ability to set for a wide range of abilities, from new climbers to seasoned crushers
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Awareness of setting safety and industry standards
  • Comfortable working at height
  • Passion for climbing culture and community
