Rockcity Climbing Holds is looking for a Thermoforming Machine Operator / Engineer, who is passionate about climbing, to join our growing team within advanced manufacturing to develop and deliver new technologies within the climbing wall and climbing hold sector.

Key Responsibilities of Thermoform Machine Operator:

  • Operating Thermoforming Machines: Load and unload materials, set machine parameters (temperature, pressure, time), monitor the forming process, and ensure smooth operation.
  • Quality Control: Inspect finished products for defects, make adjustments to machine settings as needed, and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on the machines, ensuring they are clean and in good working order.
  • Tooling: Assist with tooling changes and setups, ensuring the correct tooling is in place for each production run.
  • Safety: Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Documentation: Record production information, cycle times, and scrap rates.
  • Environment: Recycle all Post Production scrap back to be reground and reprocessed.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate with other operators and supervisors to meet production goals.
  • Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Basic Maths Skills: Understanding of fractions, decimals, and percentages is helpful.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to work with tools and machinery.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot machine issues and make necessary adjustments.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to spot defects and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with others.
  • Experience in Manufacturing: Experience working in a manufacturing setting is beneficial and large scale thermoforming experience is essential.
  • Knowledge of Thermoforming Processes: Understanding of the thermoforming process and its various aspects is crucial

Key Responsibilities of Thermoform Machine Engineer:

  • Process Design and Optimization: Developing and refining thermoforming processes, including material selection, temperature control, and forming techniques.
  • Mold Design and Selection: Ensuring that the chosen molds are suitable for the desired product and the thermoforming process.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Repair: Ensuring that thermoforming equipment is functioning correctly and making necessary repairs.
  • Quality Control: Monitoring the quality of thermoformed products to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving problems that may arise during the thermoforming process.
  • Material Handling: Managing the handling and storage of plastic sheets and other materials used in thermoforming.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensuring that all safety procedures are followed during the thermoforming process.
  • Collaboration: Working with our other engineers, technicians, and production staff to ensure the smooth operation of the thermoforming process. 
  • Degree in Product or Manufacturing Engineering would be advantageous, but not essential if the applicant has considerable industry experience.
