UKClimbing Limited is looking for an Assistant Web Developer to join our growing team starting in early 2015.
The job is a full-time position, working from home, but with daily interaction with the rest of the UKC/UKH/Rockfax team. The successful applicant will mostly likely have recently graduated from a full-time University course and be looking to start a career in web site development in a small business. They will have a wide range of web and technical development skills and be a keen and adaptable person who keeps up with modern technologies and has a good knowledge of rock climbing. They will be able to work independently and be self-motivated.
For a climber and coder there probably isn't a more exciting job around. A chance to join one of the few climbing companies that is continually developing its web applications to suit modern devices.
Main Areas of Responsibility
Work in close co-operation with Paul Phillips, the current Chief Technical Developer, on UKClimbing, UKHillwalking and Rockfax.
Daily activities will primarily be web development projects but the successful applicant will also be responsible for some tech support emails and helping users with using the site features.
Required Web skills
- HTML, CSS & JavaScript
- PHP (experience using OOP is preferable but not essential)
- MySQL
Non-essential but advantageous Web skills
- Responsive Web Design
- Twitter Bootstrap V3
- Git version control
- Adobe Edge Animate (HTML5 adverts)
- Using RESTful APIs
- Linux Server Admin
- jQuery Mobile
- CKEditor
Nice but non-essential other skills
- Experience Developing Android Apps would be a great benefit
- Photography
- Image Manipulation
Familiarity with these APIs would be advantageous (in order of importance)
Job Location
The job can be done from home, or home office. The applicant must be based within the UK.
Equipment
An up-to-date computer is required with a [preferably fixed IP address] net connection. Software will be provided where needed.
Salary Range
£20,000 to £25,000 depending on experience.
