The team explored the area by a junk ship, basket boats and sea kayaks and climbed all the great rock that came within reach, with grades ranging from 5 to 7c. TXC has now established almost 200 routes in the area and we are now talking to other activists to compile together a DWS guidebook to the area.
Later on in 2015 we will be going back to our home from home and to our Bedouin friends in The Sinai Desert. We will continue the massive project of repeating all the existing routes so that all route descriptions in our upcoming guidebook will be accurate. Although it’s not all about repeating the existing climbs. In November 2015 we will organise an all women’s climbing trip to the area that will be led by Anne Arran. The team will be packing their climbing kit onto camels, sleeping out under the stars, cooking on fires and climbing the vast amount of unclimbed granite still left in the highlands of the desert. If you are keen to escape the gloom and rain of the UK in February and want to have a great adventure ASAP then Click here to learn how you can join our Sudan expedition.
Climb safe and here’s to an exciting 2015.
