From 12-15th February the UKClimbing Team will be attending The Outdoor Show in London. Whilst at the show we will be providing live updates on the goings on throughout the weekend, running a panel on 'Careers within Climbing'  and documenting the goings on at SuperBloc - one of the biggest competitions that the UK has ever seen.

However, what is SuperBloc? We asked one of the individuals involved with organising the project, DMM Sales Representative Alex Haslehurst:

Rob: So, what is SuperBloc?

Alex: The SuperBloc is a full portable competition bouldering wall. Currently weighing in at 4.5m tall and 26m Long. The idea came from the desire for the UK to have a full world cup spec wall at it's disposal. For the Rab SuperBloc Masters we didn’t need the full 30m so have settled at 26m for now.  The first events that will be held on the wall will take place at this years’ Telegraph Outdoor and Adventure Travel show in London, but there's more planned beyond that.

Previously this show has held many and varied climbing competitions including the BBC’s and the Skymasters. This year we wanted to smash public competitions out of the water. With the addition of the very popular Exeter DWS it seems that people are thirsty for big spectacle comps and we will deliver no less than that.

Rob: So what exactly is going on at the SuperBloc event itself?

Alex: There's a number of different events running throughout the duration of The Outdoor Show, this way ensuring that there's something for everyone - from the beginner to the full-time professional climber.

12th Feb
The Tri-Services Bouldering comp

If testosterone filled passion for climbing is your thing then this is a must see event. Watching our full time service men and women putting in 100%+ is a thing to behold.

 

13th Feb
#DMMSuperBlocMasterclass Project

The biggest selection of the best coaches from around the UK will be running coaching courses throughout the day. At only £5.50 per hour you may as well book 2. All the money raised will go straight to the Team GB world cup fund. Like MoBoCo on FaceBook for more details on who’s coaching.

#RabSuperBlocMasters

What everyone has been crying out for. Big Blocs, Big Prize, Big Names and a Big Atmosphere. 44 of the UK’s best climbers will be competing for a prize fund of £4,000.  One name a day is released on @Super_Bloc so follow us to keep up to date with your favourite Climbers.

The #ArchSuperBlocOpen

Your chance to be involved. The #ArchSuperBlocOpen is your chance to climb on the big stage with problems ranging from awesome warm ups right the way through to Blocs that will possibly warm you out.  There is something for everyone. We will also be leaving up some of the finals from the #RabSuperBlocMasters if you fancy your chances on World Cup level Boulder Problems.
