Overview

One of the best indoor climbing facilities in the UK, Beacon relocated in July 2012 to a huge new modern facility, conveniently located on the main A4086 Llanberis road. The centre offers climbing and training facilities for all levels of difficulty and all ages including:

Multi-faceted lead climbing walls up to 17m high and 7m overhanging, gently overhanging and vertical walls for more technical roped climbing, 15m continuously overhanging wall with 2 auto belay units, top roping area with 2 auto belay units, 56 route lines with grades from F3 to F8a/b.

Bouldering areas with multi-angled climbing from tenuous slabs to upside down journeys and featuring colour coded circuits with 8 different grade bands and over 100 problems, 12m long and 5m wide bouldering ‘routing’ roof with raised matting for a forearm blasting workout sans harness and rope, dedicated training areas for the committed climber with full sized campus board, circuit board, fingerboards and more, dedicated kid’s area including Tommy the Elephant.

And something that’s entirely off-the-wall… CrazyClimb featuring a series of wacky climbing challenges! Tackle a wall covered with large purple blobs, race the clock on the speed climb, climb a wall covered in rotating steering wheels… and more. We reckon that CrazyClimb is the most fun you can have on a climbing wall!

Instructional courses are available for all ages and all abilities and everyone is welcome irrespective of whether they wish to use the climbing facilities. If you're visiting with friends or family but not climbing, or just fancy coming to have a look around, check out the cafe located upstairs - featuring a large balcony seating area with spectacular views overlooking the climbing walls and free WiFi.
