Rockfax Description
20m. Western grit's Peapod, a classical struggle but a classic nonetheless. The narrow central section is an uphill battle especially for those who are large in the chest, though once the trident block is grasped things ease and the final section gives glorious jamming. © Rockfax

Don't understand how this is HVS and the other 2 get E1, all well protected but this is an absolute ordeal!? Highly recommended.

Another of Joe's "proper HVS". Enough said. Thanks for the golden swag!

Well green! Found it hard but I'm crap at this sort of shizzle. Nearly fell off at the top of the groove. Too hard to be E1 - this is a definitive HVS grovel. The sort of thing Joe and Don are known for.

They (thankfully for Dunc) don't make them like this anymore. A superb grovel-a-thon up the spectacularly green groove. Not one for the faint hearted!

Textbook V-groove technique. Bone dry and clean, despite the bright green colour.

What a climb. Went the wrong way n fell off. Went the right way n fought much harder on it than owt else I've done all year. Only only just.

Good clean fun, use of knees on the wall of the pod make it fairly simpel

Just Another Dave 05/Jul/15 Lead O/S

Nothing like Peapod, actually: Felt very much like Strapiombo at Pant Ifan, but thankfully much shorter! Every single inch of progress is seriously hard work.

OMG! What the ^*$ was that?! Left hand jamming, three flailing limbs. Medium to long run-out up to the block as I couldn't imagine how to let go long enough to put gear in. Prepared to swing down onto a cam below me early on, got wedged above it purely by accident so decided against jumping off, had a rest and then got on with it and did it, so sort of clean onsight...! Humid, midgy, green, bit dank, can't move my arms today. Most effort ever expended to gain 20ft. They didn't have cams in 1948. What a route.

22 years on this now seems much harder. Angus got higher but kept sliding off. Maybe the knee pads are a handicap?

found it almost impossible. Am wide chested, could not get one arm above the other to jam properly. For me, much harder than peapod at curbar or tower chimney at stanage. HVS 5c in my book.

Oh my God! Outrageous. 'Fell off' but got stuck in the crack on the way out before the rope took me away - and carried on up in a most desparate desparate fashion. Scars all over. Should have hand jammed front on.
