Rockfax Description
Exciting and a little bold, a fall may reach the waterline! Climb Concave Wall then follow the break out right almost to the arete, passing a naughty bolt and some irritaing shrubbery on the way. Pull over the roof (old peg) to a good ledge and finish up the exposed rib. © Rockfax

Probably the best route I've climbed in the Lancashire quarries. Amazing fun in an outrageous position. I want to go back and do it again. This route has it all; corner climbing, traversing, jugs, crimps and a slabby finish. Miles better and more rewarding than that one with the funny name. Can't believe I haven't climbed this before. Brilliant.

Varied and interesting climbing with gear where needed if a little awkward to place! A worth while route maybe *** but seriously not the best route I've climb in Lancashire

Feels intimidating but no hard moves. With a stretch the "naughty bolt" above the overhang can be clipped.

In the dark; tried to go up too soon at the end of the traverse but couldn't make the move so reversed back into the break several times. Looked at the guidebook later and realised I'd been trying to get on the E4! Eventually went further along the break then up, and found it much easier.

Great! Massive holds on traverse and really nice climbing on the final arete.

An excellent traverse!! I think I traversed a little too far right though past the peg and ending up on loose ground for the final bit of vertical climbing, will have to re climb it one day to find out as it is so good

Finished up Mad karoo as per the Lead

joe.91 08/Sep/10 Lead dnf

Quite annoyed with this one it was a very sweaty evening and I just didn't like the look of the section past the bolt (mainly as the hanger was spinning freely!). So i finished Mad Karoo which is more bolder then the traverse!

hellboundblr 08/Aug/10 Lead

Traverse not too run out or pumpy, final vertical wall thin on gear and rather fingery holds.

Very solid lead from Bill. Quite a nerve wracking traverse.

Good effort to Matt on this one! Having just broken into VS, he jumped straight on in my opinion a quite solid one! Can imagine the moves out after the bolt feeling quite bold but he didn't seem too nerve-racked by the whole thing. Ended up with a lot of rope-drag, but whats a man to do eh?
