As mentioned already, you definitely need a trowel for the first pitch! It is really overgrown and not that pleasant, plus it included a tree cimb at a start. Impressive lead by Phil on the second pitch. Tough for VS unless you have many very large cams to protect the offwidth crack

I've tried to find the start of this route several times over the years, and eventually realised the current guidebook description omits to mention 6 m of climbing grass to a tree where the route actually starts. I backed off P1 after fighting past lots of vegetation - need to come back on a really dry day armed with a trowel, as P2 looks good.

Did an alternative start from the crack to the right of the bottom slab (right of foreplay). Then did a step across to get into the crack. Tricky, but well protected. Felt hard for VS. My foot slipped doing the final layback moves. Luckily managed to hold it as would have been a nasty wipper otherwise.

Quality mossy jamming low down. Manly at the top. Very manly.

Thought this was tough for VS when I did it. Not great and I wondered why Paul Williams had included it in his guidebook, Rock Climbing in Snowdonia.
